Paul W. Muenkel

Paul W. Muenkel, 80, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born July 12, 1933, in Eau Claire, WI. He married Diana Marabella in Rockford on January 14, 1961. Paul was a city police officer in Rockford for 30 years retiring as a detective in 1993. He was a veteran of the Navy. Paul was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time at his home in northern Wisconsin.
Survived by his wife, Diana; his daughter, MaryAnn (Robert) Cicero of Cherry Valley; his son, Daniel Muenkel of Rockford; his grandchildren, Kristina, Joseph, and Julianne Cicero and Sara Muenkel; his brother, Brian (Mary) Muenkel of Rogers, MN. The family would like to give special thanks to James W. Phoenix, MD.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 7,2014, in St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th St. Rockford, with Reverend William R. Schuessler officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Monday in the Community Center at the church.
