Phillip “Phil” E. Ditto, 80, of Rockford, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 10, 2024. He was born on August 19, 1943, in Success, Arkansas, the son of Phil and Nellie (Dearmon) Ditto. He married Dorothy “Sue” Tidwell on March 31, 1961, in Rockford, and spent a loving 62 years together. In his early years, he accelerated at all sports and now is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a perfectionist that was a loving and funny father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters, Paula (Jeff) and Michelle (Dale); grandchildren, Alyssa (Mike), Kelsey (Justin), Jenna, Alexander, and Zachary (Casey); great grandchildren, Teagan, Carter, Chase, Camden Phillip, and Liam; sister, Ruth (Ron) Potter, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Ferris (Deedee) Ditto and Mandy (Karin) Ditto; and sister, Mary (Ralph) Torgerson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Hospice for their wonderful care for Phil.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A visitation will be prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
