Ramona Mae Peacock, 96, of Rockford, passed away on January 21, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1928, in Hurley, South Dakota, the daughter of Soren and Mae (Olesen) Andersen. Ramona attended East High School. She married William “Bill” Peacock on May 29, 1948. She worked as a graphic arts supervisor for Testers Corporation.
Known as the Little Old Lady of Pasadena to her family, Ramona enjoyed gardening, dancing, especially square dancing and the jitterbug, and visiting with people. She had a great talent for cooking and baking, and was known for her goulash, prune whip, cookies, and frikadelle. She had a contagious laugh, love for the Lord, a fashionable look; always dressing to the nines, and a great sense of humor. She was a loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her children, George (Dianna) Peacock and Randy Peacock; daughter-in-law, Judith Peacock; grandchildren, Troy (Shannon) Peacock, Timothy (Jennifer) Peacock; Alexandra Peacock; and Dr. Anjelica Peacock; great grandchildren, William, Addisen, Rylan, and TJ Peacock; sister, Cleo Bankord; brother, Larry (Denise) Andersen; wonderful friends, Cheryl Wagner, Nancy Groom her neighbor, Mark Kopplin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Soren and Mae; love of her life, Bill; daughter, Deborah Peacock; and great granddaughter, Raegan Peacock.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the ER Nursing Staff at OSF St. Anthony Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd, Rockford, IL 61109, with a visitation prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission in the name of Ramona M. Peacock.
