Richard “Dick” Alt, 80, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, in Machesney Park, IL, with his wife Joanne and his family by his side. He was born October 15, 1943, in Cuba City, WI to the late Arthur and Mabel (Lindsay) Alt. He graduated from high school in Rising Sun, Maryland in 1961.

Dick served in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. Joanne and Dick were married on November 25, 1966. Dick was employed by the Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, IL for 34 years. He and Joanne spent many years snow birding in Florida and finally moved full time to Cape Coral FL in 2020. Dick loved gardening and was a certified Master Gardener. Wherever he lived, the lawn was always neatly trimmed and bordered by beautiful flowers. He was an avid golfer and a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. He loved and was proud of his children and deeply cherished and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and grand dogs.

Dick is survived by his wife, Joanne; two children Mike (Jill) Alt, Melanie (Mike) Wingo; grandchildren Hannah and Ryan Alt and Maggie Wingo. He is also survived by his siblings, Helen (Keith) McNett, Dorothy Chapman, Mary Weis, Arthur (Mae) Alt, Dolores Behrens, David (Lucille) Alt, Tom (Sue) Alt, and Diane (Paul) Johll and sister-in-law Vicki Alt. Dick is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 He was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and John and grandson Brody Wingo.

Dick will be honored with a time of visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
