Richard "Dick" James Vincent, 73, of Rockford passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 from heart failure at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born on January 9, 1941, the son of Lena and John Vincent. He attended Rockford schools, graduating from West High School in 1959 and received his degree from Rockford College in 1963. He began his career of teaching English in Shakopee, Minnesota. Then moved to Farimont, Minnesota where he married Gretta Johnson and had two sons. His first wife passed and he moved back to Rockford to marry his childhood friend Mary Ann. He and his wife loved to travel, visiting their children in Fargo, North Dakota, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Fort Worth, Texas, along with traveling all over out west and southwest. He enjoyed reading about history, cars and sports.
Survived by his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Chad of Fargo and Brandon (Kelly) of Minneapolis; step-daughter, Shelly Blake of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Ella Vincent, Evan Vincent, Allison Blake, Hannah Blake, Brian Blake; sister, Kathy (Rich) Ewers; nieces, Christy (Jason) and Debbie (Stuart); great-nieces and nephews, Jason II, Trinity, Caden, Emily and Clint; sister-in-law, Nellie Cacciatore and friend, Tom Schott.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont, Minnesota at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2014. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, assisted the family.
