Richard R. Dick Simonovich, 84, Rockford, passed away at St. Anne Center Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was born January 23, 1926, in Gilbert, MN, the son of Vinko and Mary (Babic) Simonovich.nbsp; Dick married Delores Dishneaux in Gilbert, MN on May 4, 1946. She passed away December 29, 1988. He then married Darlene Schappert on November 21, 1989. Dicknbsp; was a Metalurgical Engineer, graduating from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, co-founding Progressive Steel Treating in Loves Park. He was WWII Veteran serving in the Navy Air Corps. Dick was an active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. He was a pioneering member of the Boylan Booster Club of which he was named Titan of the Year in 1976, for his outstanding service to Boylan High School and the community where he gave tirelessly of his time, talent, and resources of which are too numerous to mention.

Survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Renee McCormick of Rockford, Randi (Ed) Daeger of Beloit, WI, Lynnell (Tom) Zawlocki of South Beloit, Lori (Jerry) Fleming of Roscoe, Yvonne (Burt) Townsend of Machesney Park, Richard (Cindy) Simonovich of Belvidere, James (Trisha) Simonovich of Rockford; stepchildren, Carol (Jay) Larimore of Nashville, TN, Michael (Carole) Schappert of Rockford; grandchildren, Michael (Aaron Mettey) McCormick, Kelly (Jay) Tulley, Katie (Kyle) Augustine, Meghan McCormick, Christie, Emily, Andy (Heather), and Tim (Katie) Daeger, Ann (Alvero) Fernandez, Erin, Luke (Carey), and Lindsay Zawlocki, Danielle and Spencer Townsend, John (Amylee), Jordan, Leslie, and Ben Simonovich, Corey and Rachel Konieczki; step-grandchildren, Katie and Alex Hall, Karen and John Schappert, eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred. Predeceased by parents, his first wife Delores, and his grandson, Ricky. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Juliett Kalweit, Ogle County Hospice, Provena St. Anne Center, especially Lori and Jennifer, who so lovingly cared for Dad.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am, Wednesday, January 26, 2011,nbsp; at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av. Loves Park, IL. 61111.nbsp; Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 9:30 until 10:15 am, on Wednesday, at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
