Richard "Rich" J. Ianni

Richard “Rich” James Ianni, 78, of Rockford, passed away on September 23, 2023. He was born on June 6, 1945, in Rockford, the son of Benjamin and Eleanor (Segalla) Ianni. Rich married Pamela Sanders on November 28, 1970, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rockford. He served our country in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Rockford Auto Glass. Rich was a member of St. James and St. Anthony Catholic Church, the LLL Society Club and the Lombardi Club. He could build and fix anything and enjoyed spending time fixing cars. He was an avid card player and took joy in carpentry. He was a generous, brilliant, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Rich was a man of few words and a great friend.

Rich is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam; daughters, Tracie Ianni, Chrissy (Geoff) Ianni, Jaime Ianni, and Melinda Ianni; son-in-law, Joe Tarara; grandchildren, James Ianni, Diego Tarara, Grace Tarara, Lily Tarara, Richard Tarara, Lucy Axe, and Simon Axe; sister, Mary (Tim) Ianni; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Sanders, Heidi Crawford, Mark Sanders, Mary Sanders, Ron Rudolph, and Amy (Alex) Szymanski; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Eleanor; daughter, Cynthia Tarara; brother, Benjamin and Peggy Ianni; brothers and sisters-in-law, Peggy Sanders, Richard Sanders, Bill Sanders, Polly Rudolph, and Patrick Sanders; mother-in-law, Joanie Sanders – Schmidt; fathers-in-law, John Sanders and Blackie Schmidt; and nieces, Maggie Rudolph and Raven Sanders.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for all their care for Richard.

A visitation will be on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road Rockford, IL 61108. A funeral service will follow starting at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ianni family to be established at a later date.
