Rita Margaret Guidi, 100, of Rockford, passed away on August 25, 2025. She was born in Rockford on November 23, 1924, the daughter of John and Elisa (Guenzani) Guidi. She graduated from Aquin High School in Freeport. She worked as a secretary for Western & Southern, I.C. Webb, and St. James Catholic School Library. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling. She loved reading, collecting quarters, watching the golden girls, and shopping at QVC. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving where she enjoyed peeling potatoes, doing dishes, and drinking a glass of wine. She cherished her family the most, spending lots of time with her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Lombardi Club, the Verdi Club, St. Anthony Catholic Church, and St. James Catholic Church. She was a feisty, giving, loving, awesome, and caring sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jean (Russ) Murray, Gail Guidi, Robin (John) Malez, Mary (David) McLain, John (Rita) Guidi, Mike Guidi, and Margie (Joe) Gonzales; numerous great nieces and nephews; many great great nieces and nephews; a few great great great nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Vivian Parsek; and caregiver, Sally Howard. She is predeceased by her parents; twin brother, Reno (Elaine); brothers, Harry (Ann) and Raymond; 2 nephews, Dan Guidi and Joe Guidi; great nephew, Jay Guidi; and special friend, Dorothy Tomasini.
A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N 2nd St, Rockford, IL 61107 with a visitation prior to Mass starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Father Beauvais Hall. Entombment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patricia D. Pepe Cancer Center of OSF St. Anthony Hospital.
