Robert "Brad" Bradford Smith

Robert Bradford “Brad” Smith, 74, of Rockford, passed away on August 21, 2023. Born on November 25, 1948, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Robert and Martha (Tabor) Smith. He graduated from MacArthur High School, Decatur IL, class of 1966. Brad enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman with the Marines during the Vietnam War. He married Lori Compton on December 28, 1991, in Springfield, Illinois. Brad spent his career working in Emergency Medical Services as an instructor and system coordinator. Brad was a homebody who loved reading, worshiping at Stonebridge Church, and cherished the time with his wife and daughters. He also enjoyed being outdoors, doing yardwork, and spending summers at their cabin in Spooner, Wisconsin. He looked forward to the fall when he could enjoy watching the Packers and Blackhawks play.

Brad is survived by his wife, Lori, and daughters, Amy and Taylor Smith. He is predeceased by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 5 p.m., at Stonebridge Church, 5183 Pebble Creek Trail Loves Park, IL 61111. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund for Stonebridge Church. Please share memories and condolences online.
