Robert D. Sherertz

Robert David Sherertz, 91, Rockford, died at 8:47 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Swedish American Hospital. Born August 23, 1919 in Pittsburgh, IL, son of Morton and Ada Hayes Sherertz. Graduated from Pittsburg High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Married Marjorie Allen in New Milford on June 6, 1942. He was employed by Mechanics Universal, retiring after 33 years of employment. Robert was a man of firm convictions and was always strong for his family. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; sons, Richard Sherertz and Allen (Angelia) Sherertz; daughters, Nancy Sherertz, Barbara Lynn Sherertz and Brenda Kay Sherertz; grandchildren, Jimmy Bowen, Dylan Nelson, Rebecca Rose, Brandon Rose, Richard David Sherertz, Maritsa Poratte, Stephanie Thrush, and Scott and Rachel Sherertz; one great-grandson. Predeceased by his parents, a brother and 2 sisters.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
