Roland J. Gudie

Roland Gudie, 84 of Rockford, Il, died peacefully on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at UW Swedish American Hospital. Ron was born June 14, 1939, in La Crosse, WI to Walter and Millie Gudie. Ron married Janet Miller in 1980. Janet preceded him in death on August 5th, 2015. Ron graduated in 1958 from Aquinas High School in La Crosse, WI. Ron lived a full life, enjoying chili-cookoffs, poker, hunting, fishing, golf, shooting pool, traveling, and was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan. Ron loved meeting new people, and followed in his father’s footsteps, pursuing a career in sales and advertising.

Ron had three sons from his first marriage. He is survived by Al Gudie of Stoddard, WI and Troy (Trudy) of Onalaska, WI, two grandsons Alex and Ben, two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Jordy. Ron was predeceased by middle son Blane in 2021. Ron is also survived by stepson Mike (Gloria) Miller of Poplar Grove, Il, grandson John Carlson (Andrea) and family of Loves Park, Il, and granddaughters Abigail Johnson of Bettendorf, IA, and Elisabeth Johnson of Rockford, Il. Ron was also predeceased by stepdaughter Jill Johnson in 2016.

A Visitation will be Thursday, April 25th, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108,  from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. A private burial will be held in LaCrosse, WI.
