Ronald "Ron" L. Lindsey

January 9, 1944 — March 21, 2022

Ronald Lee Lindsey, 78, passed away in Rockford, Illinois on March 21, 2022. Born in Peoria, Illinois on January 9, 1944 son to Glenn and Vernetta (Mcknown) Lindsey. Ron, his mother and brother Glenn moved to Machesney Park after his father passed away when Ron was very young. He attended Harlem Middle School. Not long after, he began to work with his grandfather and learned how to repair and operate heavy equipment. He utilized that knowledge throughout his life and worked for Eighmy Equipment until he was able to start his own company, Rock Valley Heavy Equipment Repair. Later in his life he joined I.U.O.E. Local 150 and worked as an operator at Wastone Quarry in Dixon and ultimately retired from Macklin Quarry in Rochelle in 2006. He married Wanda McVay and they had three beloved daughters before deciding to go their separate ways. In 1991 he met Murna while line dancing and they married in Las Vegas. Ron said it was the best $200 he ever spent. In his free time, Ron enjoyed being a regular at Dough Boys Donut Shop, loved gambling and finding a good bargain. He loved spending time with his family and dear friends making memories. His pride and joy was his barn find- a midnight blue ’65 Chevy Impala SS. He enjoyed going to car shows and traveling the US with his wife Murna.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 25 years, Murna; his daughters Rhonda (Ken) Mayo, Cammy (Eric) Fitzgerald, Nicole Lindsey and his bonus son Chad Hoffman; his grandchildren Alexis, Briana, and Colton; Taylor, Lindsey, Karson, Leeam (Kailyn), Kelton, Kalea White, Bryce Midgett, and bonus grandchildren Broden and Teagan Folz; sister in law Margie Lindsey; nephews Brad (Tena) and Jeff (Teresa) Lindsey; special fur babies Buppa and bed buddy Lily. Special mention to Darrell and Jeannie Williams, our special Angel; lifelong friends Kermit (Mercedes) Nyen and dear friends Jo Sward and Gary Camm. He is predeceased by his parents Glenn and Vernetta; his brother Glen “Buzz” Lindsey, and his Post Kidney Transplant Medication Supervisor Chiquita the cat.
