Sandra "Sandy" Romanek

Sandra J. Romanek was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 8th of 1951 to the proud parents of Laverne aka Boots (nee Carroll) and Ray Romanek. She attended Circle campus in Chicago, majoring in accounting. Working at the finance department of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, followed by Camcar, before her retirement as Manager of finance at Boone County; Illinois Health Department.

 She is preceded in death by her husband, David Anderson, and her sister, Gail Racine. She leaves behind her beloved son Derek and her 2 remaining sisters, Pam and Kathy; her grandchildren, Jordan, Sam, and Emelia; as well as her niece Sherri; nephews, Tom, Paul, Robert & Luke. She was the great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader, golfer, gardener and historian. She leaves behind her dear friends Mary Anne and Mel, “Little” David, Peter, her sister-in-law, Diane (wife of the late Jim Anderson), brother in laws, Bob Racine and Adam Moran; as well as her trusted neighbors/friends and many cousins. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL 61103.
