Sara Annette Martorana

Sara Annette Martorana, 92, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at PA Peterson at the Citadel. She was born September 11, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Alfonso and Josephine (Amore) Nicosia. Sara married Frank T. Martorana in Rockford on July 2, 1949. She worked at Warner Lambert for 21 years until her retirement. She is a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church serving on the Altar and Rosary Society and was a member of the Venetian Club. Sara was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family.

Survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Frank; her children, Michael (Diana) Martorana, Mary Jo (Mike) Pyzynski, and Julie (Horace) McGough, all of Rockford; her grandchildren, Gina (Rob) Tucker, Jami (Nick) Doyle, Stephanie (Rob) Roccaforte, Angela and Joseph Pyzynski; her 5 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Florence Kline; many nieces and nephew. Predeceased by her sisters, Angeline Zinna and Rose Virgili and her brothers, Ross and Al Nicosia.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford with Reverend Carl Beekman officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford.
