Sharon D. Scheer

Sharon D. Scheer, 71, of Rockford, passed away at Serenity Hospice and Home on February 3, 2025 after a brief and challenging battle with cancer. Sharon was born on February 6, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois to Wendell and Helen (Peterson) Court. Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Guilford High School. She graduated in 1975 with a bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. Sharon married William (Bill) Scheer in Rockford on June 7, 1975. He died on May 23, 2018. Sharon was employed by Independence Village, Beltone Hearing, Northern Illinois Hospice, and Lundstrom & Peterson in various clerical roles. Sharon was a member of Bethesda Covenant Church in Rockford.

Sharon enjoyed spending time at Green Lake, Wisconsin, traveling to the Caribbean, Mexico, and crossing the Panama Canal. She especially treasured staying current with her circle of friends and family, always willing to lend an ear and share life’s ups and downs.

She is survived by her sister Kathy (John) Kenny of Los Gatos, California; her nephews David Kenny, Jeff (Liz) Genrich, Greg Genrich, Brian (Desirae) Genrich, Aaron Geist; nieces Joy Geist and Angel Albright, and sister-in-law Marilyn Geist; 7 great nephews and 2 great nieces, and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 East State Street, Rockford on Monday June 30, 2025 at 11 am.
