Shirley Gregg

Shirley Marie Gregg 89 of Rockford passed away Thursday June 12, 2014 in Alma Debes. She was born November 16, 1924 in Woodstock, IL, the daughter of Harold and Verna Holden. She married Anthony Gregg on May17, 1947. Tony predeceased her on January 28, 2005. Shirley served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She retired from Twin Disc. She was a long standing member of St Peter Cathedral where she was an active volunteer in the church community. Shirley was Catholic Woman of the Year in 2001. Shirley was an avid dancer belonging to a senior tap dance group who performed in dance revues and contests.
Survivors include her five children; Jody (Ernest) Marquez of Elgin, Jackie O'Brien, Dan (Joanne) Gregg of Loves Park, Mary Pat (Steve) Montalbano and Geoff (Joyce) Gregg. Grandchildren; Anne-Marie, Susan, Kelly, Gregg, Erin, Jennifer, Ryan, Stephen, Nicholas, Christopher, Ryan and James. Nine great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Husband, son Stephen and two brothers, Dean and Dale Holden.
Funeral Mass at 10:30am Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Cathedral of St. Peter. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 9am until 10:15 Friday in the church. Arrangements completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
