Teddy C. Whitmire

Teddy “Ted” “Rocky” “Ampa” C. Whitmire, 86, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Teddy was born on June 19, 1939, the son of Ferd and Ida (Turley) Whitmire. He graduated from East High School in Rockford, Class of 1957. Teddy worked for 27 dedicated years as the president of Twin City Supply Inc. He married Pamela M. Flowerette on August 20, 1960, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rockford. Teddy remained a lifetime member of St. Anthony and was also a past member of the Holy Name Society. He was associated with numerous groups through his company, including Northern IL Building Contractors Association and Homebuilders Association of Rockford.

Teddy enjoyed spending time with his family the most, taking yearly trips to Lido Beach in Florida and to Wisconsin Dells. He enjoyed traveling with Pam to many places such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, Cancun, & a Carribean Cruise. He had a special appreciation for music and attended several concerts including Elvis Presley, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Paul Anka, Bobby Vinton, and Jimmy Buffet. Teddy was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals, even enjoying going to their games. He also cherished spending time with his beloved grand dogs, Lily and Mork. Teddy's great smile & sense of humor will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 65 years, Pam Whitmire, 2 children, Curtis (Sandra) Whitmire and Michele (Paul) Fandel; grandchildren, Johnny Fandel, GiaMaria Fandel, Stephanie Whitmire, Tommy Fandel and Bobby Fandel. Teddy is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Olene Ganoe.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and doctors of the 3rd floor heart hospital at UW Swedish America.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Teddy’s name to the Whitmire family, for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with a rosary recited at 7:15 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL 61102. Entombment will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
