Teresa K. Hatfield, 66, of Belvidere, IL passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1957, in Evergreen Park, IL to Ralph and Cecelia Kay (Hasselbring) Winger. She met the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Hatfield, through a mutual friend who had set them up on a blind date. Teresa and Rick knew it was meant to be and were married a month later, on November 22, 1988. They welcomed three children into the world, whom Teresa loved dearly. Not only a mother to them, but to everyone who had a chance to know her; above everything, she loved being a mom. She enjoyed playing cards and catching up on the latest TV shows and documentaries, from true crime to wrestling, with her oldest son, Corey, who was near and dear to her heart. The two of them often went to Red Lobster, one of their favorite restaurants. Her second born, Keith, held a special bond with mom, being the one to make her a grandmother. Anytime she had an issue, Keith was her personal IT technician. Her youngest, Hayley, held a special place in her heart, being the baby of the family. Near and dear to Teresa, any time a new nail polish collection released, you best believe she was the first to tell Hayley about it. They enjoyed going to the Fall Diddley every year and often stayed up chatting on the phone into the night. Above all else, Teresa was a nurturer. When Keith and Hayley would return home from college breaks, there was never a time they left empty handed; always making sure the kids had a care package to take with them. Teresa also had a love for all things spooky, having a room dedicated to the collection she built over the years. Her children were the most important people in her life, up until the birth of her grandson, Dakota, he was her sunshine. She enjoyed having sleepovers with Dakota, baking cookies together, and made sure to attend all his school events.. She will always be remembered as the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Hatfield; children Corey Hatfield, Keith (Samantha) Hatfield, Hayley Hatfield; grandchild Dakota Hatfield; siblings Kevin Winger, Jeff Winger, Doug (Kelley) Winger, Sheryl Olesen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Teresa is predeceased by her parents; grandparents Cecil and Elizabeth Hasselbring; and sister-in-law, Gemma Winger.
A visitation for Teresa will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103.
