Thomas K. Moore

Thomas K. Moore, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on November 10, 1922 and raised in New Albin, Iowa; the son of Edward and Anna (Hayes). Thomas married Margaret Schoonover on October 25, 1947 in Beloit, WI and together they made Rockford their home that same year. He began his career as an apprentice for Local 31 Bricklayers and Allied Crafts in 1951 and became a dedicated journeyman for Sjostrom & Sons and many area contractors for more than 34 years until retiring in 1985. Thomas was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he enjoyed dancing, playing cards and loved to sit on his porch reminiscing about old friends and talking with neighbors and passersby. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and most recently, St. Edward Catholic Church, the Moose Club and Harmony Club.
Thomas is survived by his children, Dennis Dedrick of Montello, WI, Jean (Fred) Bull of Roscoe, IL, Thomas R. (Nancy) Moore of Fort Atkinson, WI, Kathie (Tim) Geiger of Port Edwards, WI, Steve (Helene) Moore of Rockford, David Moore of Loves Park, IL, Michael (Kim) Moore of Rockford, IL and Mary Collen (Brian) Robison of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Connie Lynn, Jack, Rick, Denise, Daryl, Michele, Christina, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Ellen, Pamela, Thomas H., Steve, Keith, Jason, Ryan, Heidi, April, Jessica-Margaret, Adam, Evan and Tyler and great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Metzdorff; sisters, Mary Nichols and Jane Ellen; sister-in-law, Betty Schoonover; Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 2001; brothers, Robert Moore and Jack Metzdorff; sister, Betty Jordan; sister-in-law, Isabell Schoonover.
Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Memorial donations may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church.
