Timothy L. Murphy, 76, Kirkland, died on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born August 22, 1949 in Rockford, son of Robert D. and Lola Bowers Murphy. He graduated from Guilford High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. Employed as a glazier and general contractor his entire career. Tim was a man of many interests and especially enjoyed spending the winters in Texas. He loved his family/friend annual “Turkey Shoot” events, watching the birds, hunting and loved collecting antiques. He was also a big Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. Tim loved his big family and was devoted to his fiancé, Dorie. He was a member of VFW Post 461 and American Legion Post 77. He was also a member of the Cherry Valley Men’s Club.
Survivors include his fiancé, Dorie Wait; children, Kimberli (D.J.) Williams, Brian Murphy, Amy Murphy and Dorie’s son, Brad Fleming; grandchildren, Taylor (fiancé, Peter) Bozman, Kelli Bozeman, Braxton Williams, Devin Murphy, Kiara Murphy, Kegan Zahm and Harper Fleming. Also survived by his sisters, Patricia Gorsuch, Kathleen Sundberg, Mary Dale Wilson, Sally Hollembeak, sister-in-law, Sherry Murphy, and long time friend, Wayne Johnson. Predeceased by his parents, wife, Connie, former wife, Jennifer, brother, Terry Murphy, brothers-in-law, Bill Gorsuch, Vance Sundberg, Ronald Hollembeak and Ronald Wilson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Michaelson, Dr. Mete Korkmaz and Dr. Edward Telfer for the outstanding care they gave to Tim.
A funeral service to celebrate Tim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Cherry Valley Men’s Club, 3256 Valley Woods Dr., Cherry Valley, IL 61016.
