Tommy Darrell Freeman, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. He was born on June 11, 1945, in Morganfield, Kentucky, and grew up in Marion, Kentucky. He later made his home in Madisonville, Kentucky, where he spent the majority of his adult life.
In his early life, Tommy was adventurous and spirited, often teaming up with his partner-in-crime sister Polly to lovingly antagonize their older sister Jeannette. He later proudly served his country as an Army Veteran before beginning a hardworking career as a diesel mechanic.
On November 9, 1968, Tommy married the love of his life, Carrie, and they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. Together they created a family that was the center of Tommy’s world.
Tommy was a man of deep faith and steadfast service. He was a faithful deacon and devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Madisonville, Kentucky for 36 years, where he served his church family with humility, dedication, and love.
Tommy worked for several years in the Andalex coal mines and later with Wayne Supply, where he was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical skill, and willingness to help others.
In his free time, Tommy enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his sons, watching Kentucky Wildcats basketball, tinkering in his garage, and enjoying a cold Pepsi. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie (Raymond) Freeman; his sons, Thomas (Kari) Freeman and Timothy (Amanda) Freeman; 7 grandchildren, Kayla (David), Kelsey (Luke), Kara, Lauren, Kori, TJ, and Jeffery; and 5 great-grandchildren, Levi, Rylee, Myles, Aurora, and Raelan. He is also survived by his siblings, Polly (Harry) Brown and Jeannette McNeely, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Kathryn Freeman, and Aunt Grahame Mosby.
