W. Roger Mayfield

W. Roger Mayfield, 87, Rockford, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010, in River Bluff Nursing Home.nbsp; He was born December 20, 1922, in Joliet, the son of Edgar P. and Hazel (Tiping) Mayfield.nbsp; Roger married Gladys M. Meyer in Spring Grove on April 22, 1950.nbsp; He worked as a buyer for Sundstrand Corporation for many years retiring in 1987.nbsp; He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Philippines.nbsp; Roger was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was a longtime usher.nbsp; He enjoyed golf and bowling and was an avid Cubs fan.nbsp; Roger was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters where he served as an officer in the local and high courts.nbsp; He was active innbsp; the nbsp;Boylan High School Boosters Club.

Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gladys; two daughters, Patricia Nudera of Woodstock and Cynthia (Doug) Zeivel of Palatine; granddaughters, Annie Zeivel, Shannon Nudera, and Megan Zeivel; niece, Cathy Mayfield.nbsp; Roger was loved by many other family members and friends.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents; his sister, Frances Manos and his brother, Quentin Mayfield.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 2, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. 2 nd St., Rockford, Il 61107.nbsp; Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.nbsp; Visitation from 4 pm until 7 pm, Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Rockford, IL 61103 with a Scripture Service at 6:45 pm and from 9:30 am until 10:15 am on Friday and the church.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials to St James Catholic Church or River Bluff Nursing Home, 4401 N.
