Warren W. Cade, 90, Rockford, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1934, the son of Alvin Stanley and Wilhelmina Rhoese (Knofer) Cade in Omaha, Nebraska. He married his loving wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Johnson) Cade on August 13, 1961, in Omaha.
Warren earned his bachelor’s degree in business and further pursued graduate studies at Northern Illinois University. His career as an accountant spanned many firms in Rockford, with his most recent position being at Williams Lanz Sons.
An esteemed member of the community, Warren was an active Freemason at the Star in the East Lodge, where he served as Grand Lecturer. His involvement extended to the Eagles, and serving in the United States Army reflecting his dedication to fellowship and service. His faith was equally significant, as he was a devoted parishioner at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Warren had a vibrant personal life filled with hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid golfer, playing regularly until this year, and found happiness in boating and spending weekends with his family on the Mississippi River. Additionally, he was fond of reading adventure stories, often losing himself in the pages of exciting tales.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Cade; his daughter, Janel (Wayne) Wager; his grandsons, Joseph Wager and Andrew Wager; his sister, Sharon Trueblood; his sisters-in-law, Marsha Cade and Betty Cade; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Roland Cade and Robert Cade.
A Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Road, Rockford IL, 61107. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission (Memorial Donations) and to Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
