Rockford

Wendy Sue Breit, 57 passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois. She was born on August 16, 1967, in Oregon, Illinois, and went on to graduate in 1985 from Oregon High School. Marrying the love of her life, Jody Breit, on December 18, 2007, stands as one of Wendy's proudest accomplishments. Their bond was a testament to the joy of companionship, marked by shared laughter and unwavering support through life’s winding paths. Both being members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, she and Jody found a community of friends there to laugh and make fond memories with. Her love for antiques spoke volumes about her character; she had an eye for treasures, which she delighted in sharing with others. A love that started from owning her own antique store, Country Memories in Oregon, Illinois. An avid viewer of shows on the Oxygen and Bravo Channel, Wendy’s evenings were often filled with her favorite characters and plot twists. Wendy was an adventurer at heart, dedicating many family weekends to camping at the cherished Badgerland Campground in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She will be missed and her spirit will be remembered in the stories told by those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Jody; their daughter Peyton Grace Breit; her aunt Rose (Jack) Giesfeldt and Jan Tomczak; mother-in-law Jill (Jim) Gearns and Laurie Breit; brother-in-law John Breit; siblings in law Carol Marin, Larry Gearns, Kathy (Jason) Lewandowski and their families; aunts and uncles Gale Williams, Sue (Dave) Patterson, Vickie (Tom) Faleo, Pat (Wendy) Breit, James (Jennifer) Breit and so many beloved cousins. A very special mention to her longtime best friend Toria (Jeff) Ellis, Mark and Barb Lundy as well as all The Boys. She is predeceased by her mother, Judy Tomczak; grandmother Evelyn Bowers; uncles John and Mike Tomczak; father-in-law John Breit Jr.

A time to gather and celebrate Wendy’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. To send online condolences or share memories, please visit www.fitzgeraldfh.com
