William E. Fritsch, 70, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born in Rockford on August 18, 1955, to Willy and Waltraut (Dirks) Fritsch.
A proud graduate of Rockford West High School, Class of 1973, William fulfilled 25 years of dedicated service at Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant, before retiring three years ago. He was a loyal member of UAW Local 1268 and enjoyed attending monthly meetings. As a young adult, William spent much of his time practicing and instructing karate, forming many lifelong friendships. William was truly one of a kind, strong in spirit and proud of his German heritage, known for his meticulous nature, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication to hard work.
Above all else, William’s greatest joy was his family. His intense love and devotion to his daughter and grandchildren filled his days and was his true passion in life.
William is survived by his daughter, Erika (Joe) Giambeluca; his beloved grandchildren, Everly, Skyla, and Hayden Giambeluca; his sisters, Charlotte (Ray) Ferguson and Beverly (Joe) Lynde; his nieces, Valerie Ferguson, Dana (Scott) Lemke, and Jordan (Eric) Hagerman; and his nephew, Trent Ferguson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willy and Waltraut (Dirks) Fritsch.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. William’s final resting place will be at Scandinavian Cemetery.
