William R. Mitchell

William R. Mitchell, 97, of Rockford, the last of 7 children, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014. He was born in Nesbit, Mississippi on January 10, 1917, the son of Robert and Lovie (Driver) Mitchell. William married Lucille Mitchell on June 6, 1943 in Chicago. He was a proud U.S. Veteran serving his country in the Army during WWII and Korea. Upon his honorable discharge he attended Roosevelt University and earned his Bachelor's degree. William enjoyed dancing with his wife, Lucille at the Parkway Ballroom in Chicago. He also loved playing billiards and often traveled to attend tournaments.
Survivors include, daughter, Marsa Mitchell, M.D.; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Lucille; brothers and sisters.
